Pak a Bag

Are you handy with a sewing machine, enjoy knitting, or are you simply able to come along and make everyone a cup of tea and help with sewing on buttons?   You would be very welcome to join us for one of our monthly Pak A Bag sessions!

Pak A Bag

As a church we support Nick and Sheila Court at Step Wise Youth Ministry.  The bags that we make at our Pak a Bag sessions are given to children that Nick and Sheila work with across South Africa.

Included in the bags that we send out to Nick and Sheila are pencils, pencil sharpeners, rulers and rubbers for the children.

The last time Nick and Sheila visited they told us that the children often get very cold hands on their way to school in winter, so since then we have also been knitting mittens for the children.  If you don’t know one end of a sewing machine from another but enjoy knitting, why not ask Hazel for a pattern, or come along to the sessions and knit while you chat with others?

Nick and Sheila visited our church in 2013

We meet for two sessions a month – one in the daytime and one in the evening (both in the same week, usually the first Monday/Tuesday of the month) to enable as many people as possible to join in.  The work done in these sessions is greatly appreciated by those who receive our handiwork, and it is a lovely opportunity to share fellowship together while we work.

Pak a Bag
In January 2014 Nick and Sheila visited our church and were thrilled to see a display of some of the bags that had been made ready for them to take back to South Africa.

Hazel and her team are always looking for more people to come along and help with making the bags.  No prior experience is necessary – the pattern is very simple and Hazel is willing to train anyone who is willing to have a go!   Why not come and join us?
