Easter at St Mellons

“There’s a guy works down the chip shop swears he’s Elvis”, was a hit song from the 80’s some ten years after the death of the king of rock and roll.  Clearly the man was delusional, or (as the song suggests) a liar!

3 days after the clear death of Jesus by Roman crucifixion, a man was appearing in Jerusalem and it’s surrounding area, claiming to be him, risen from the dead!  The initial reaction of the disciples and the women was unbelief, doubt and fear – but these rapidly gave way to unending JOY as “he gave them many convincing proofs that he was alive”!

This realisation completely changed their lives: it convinced them that Jesus was indeed the Son of God (the Creator God had been on Earth as a man) and that their (and all mankind’s) biggest problems (sin, death and judgement) had been completely conquered – and eternal life was theirs! Here we are 2000 years later!  It is 2014 because of these events.  Hundreds of millions of people claim to have encountered Jesus and so had their lives totally transformed – about 140 folks who meet at St Mellons Baptist Church agree!  How about you?  Is Jesus alive?  Or is he like the guy that works down the chip shop?

Come along to one, or all of our Easter services – it could change your life… FOREVER!
